Read previous reviews on sizing. I ordered both the small and medium and figured I would either return the one that didn't fit or give it away because my little dude really, really needed a new coat this winter. His other 2 fleece coats are not ideal. One is too snug and restricts him. The other is too short at the back and has no taper and thus flares open, letting in a lot of cold air. He's tough to fit. 13 neck, 16 chest (I forget his back length but likely 12; he gets pissed off when I measure him), 9 pound Chihuahua, so he SHOULD be square in the medium range according to the sizing chart. Now medium size I ordered isn't scheduled to arrive until next week but the small got here yesterday and the fit is absolutely perfect EXCEPT I'm going to have to alter the bottom hem because it's too close and he'll end up getting pee on it. This has been an ongoing problem with every single garment I try to get for him. Everything is too close and ends up getting soiled. That small issue aside, great, great, GREAT dog coat. He can step right into it and it zips easily up the back. Snug fit to keep him warm but I can easily fit a finger all around his neck and arm holes so he has good ease of movement. The D rings allow for easy leash attachment. No worries about fitting a harness underneath and snipping a hole in the coat for the leash as I've done in the past. No collars for Chihuahuas because of their fragile trachea. I think he will love this for winter.I'll reserve final decision for when the medium gets here but I have a feeling it will be far too large and will be returned.UPDATE: 11/08/2018. Indeed the medium was far too large and is being returned. The small fits him very well. Another happy discovery is that despite how close the hem comes to him soiling it with urine, and I was positive I would have to cut and hem it up higher, the fitted tapering of the item seems to prevent that! He's worn it several mornings now and despite marking dozens of times each outing, he has yet to soil his coat! Yay Gooby! This is also SO much easier to put on him too. He already knows to just step into it and I can lift and zip much quicker than his other coats.Highly, highly recommend.UPDATE JANUARY 2020: After countless washings and twice daily wear, the zipper pull crumbled in my hand. Just simply fell apart! Debating whether I pay a seamstress to replace the entire zipper assembly, see if I can just purchase another pull or buy him a new coat. Whole new coat seems like overkill as its still in perfect condition otherwise.
