This towel ring was a little problematic at first as I didn't drill a hole in the wall first and broke a small wall anchor in half trying to fix it to hit it with a hammer. into the wall bracket. The instructions say that drilling a hole is not necessary. You don't have to drill a hole first, but you will. I also attached a towel ring to a black round piece of plastic which I fixed to the wall but found it didn't fit the wall snugly. I had to take it off and try again but now the black part was stuck in the ring along with the screw and I couldn't get it out. The company kindly sent me a replacement right away. Now it's pretty tight against the wall and sticking out of the wall quite a bit, but it looks nice.
