We buy heated grips to keep us warm in the winter, but we have to live with these grips all year round. It's summer now and I really like the feel of these pens. They are slightly larger in diameter than regular pens, which suits me fine. It's like grabbing the fat steering wheel of my sports car against the skinny steering wheel of my wife's Lexus. The rubber is soft enough to provide good traction without feeling like it's wearing out too quickly, but time will tell. The texture grips my gloves without imparting any unusual ridges or patterns like some ribbed grips. Now for the heat: I've turned it on a few times on a cold morning and the heat seems to spread quickly and evenly between the left and right grips. Each bike will be slightly different based on throttle body size and handlebar material, but they work well with my aluminum handlebars on my Suzuki SV650. I have had various types of heated grips for almost 20 years now and this is the best design and one of the cheapest. The controller is very intelligent as it remembers your last settings when you turn them on after turning off the bike. The button is easy to operate with thick gloves and the LEDs show the power setting well. The electronic control is much better than the hi-lo toggle switch found on some other cranks. When set to one of the low heat settings, it draws little current from your battery, unlike some designs that use a resistor block for heat regulation. The only thing I didn't like about the controller was the mount. If you use a handlebar mount, you must use a rubber pad to prevent it from rotating on the handlebars. If you tape it to the dash with double sided tape like I did, it looks like this. For the price, this is a small complaint. There are only 2 wires that need to be connected to your system. Even if you lost direction or ignored the red/black color coding, you still have a 50/50 chance of getting it right. I was replacing an old set of heated grips, so I already had a switchable relay (highly recommended so you don't overload your existing circuit and drain your battery if you plug them in directly and forget to turn them off). Some people have complained. about the tight fit on the left handle. My aluminum rod had a knurled end so a little time with a flat file made installation easier. I still used the included super glue and rubber mallet to hammer it in the last inch or two. The throttle side was a little loose, so little JB Weld took care of that. Now there is no movement and I am sure they will not come loose - ever. All in all, these are the best heated grips I've ever owned.
