Review on πŸ“± Alacrity 2D QR Wireless Barcode Scanner: Efficient Hands-Free Reader for Industry, Retail, Warehouses - 6709DA by David Gonzalez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Highly programmable BUT you need to know a little bit about coding!

The instruction manual that comes with this amazing scanner is like a little manual for all types of barcodes known to people all over the world, from UPC to the ubiquitous Code 39.2D code standard . It literally teaches you how to program ANY format strip if you know a simple code. THIS SCANNER REQUIRES SOFTWARE - from Excel to Quickbooks, home inventory or even a free host solution (where you can enter your barcodes on a website) like upcdatabase dot com. The choice is yours: 1. Accept the factory defaults (which is good), 2. Program the device using simple string instructions (basically the F1/F2/F3 keys when entering your command interface or character editor - for this you need a know some basic sdk/dos/ide stuff - IOW, command line or text editor, not just dragging a GUI window) or 3. Scanning in barcode views (including creating your own!) controlling the scanner settings. A very advanced but very cool feature if you want to do a bit of programming. THIS DOES NOT SUPPORT QR codes for websites or smartphones - there are plenty of free iOS and Android apps for that on Revain! The default output is a numeric string, so you can use it out-of-the-box with most websites and inventory systems. or even surpass it. With a bartender or other software, POS or free online, you can also create your own "unofficial" accounts to maintain your own inventory system.
