Review on Acer Predator XN253Q Pbmiprzx 24.5" Monitor, 1920X1080 Resolution, 144Hz Refresh Rate, Built-In Speakers, HDMI by Miguel Christian

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The sound is initially buggy (12 year old monitor is louder).

Update after the break. So I bought it last week and it arrived last night. This is my first monitor since the HP w2338h that came with my first tower a few years ago. I have it for running games and watching movies and using the w2338h as a second screen for text and chat. Everything looked fine out of the box, assembling the stand was a breeze and everything connected with the display cable. First check after turning on and booting up the computer, everything looked fine, there was a problem keeping the driver up to date (windows kept saying the driver is up to date). Date with a list of devices, mark it as "Generic". I had to manually download the latest driver and pipe the updater to a folder). The first flag I didn't like was when I went through Acer to register a monitor to access online support. He said the warranty that came with it has expired. The second flag (and the one that prompted me to call Revain) arose when I decided to download the game. I immediately noticed that it is very quiet. I check the volume levels on the monitor and the master volume on my PC. Both were set to 100. I turn on the audio output on my w2338h and the tones sound good. I did a search to see if there is a speaker difference between the two and found the specs for both with 2w speakers. So I called Revain and they started sending me a replacement. Have to wait until the 17th to get it as it is currently out of stock. We will update/amend this review once a replacement arrives. Thanks for that. However, the sound still doesn't match my HP w2338h. It's louder than the first, but the difference is still noticeable compared to my HP. The difference now makes me wonder if it has something to do with the positioning of the speakers. I'll try again and see if the independent speakers/soundbar will be the main audio output.
