After reading positive reviews, I decided to buy a new device instead of my Kindle 5. The goals were: - backlight (on the old one I adapted a Chinese clothespin) - screen (the old one was fine, but there should be progress) - touchscreen (it was not very convenient to follow the links, and read with a dictionary) According to the results: - Backlight. Uncomfortably cold. All the beauty of the e-inka is lost with her. We get an almost ordinary self-luminous screen. The Chinese clothespin from ali-express, although it hangs uncomfortably on top of the old reader, is an EXTERNAL light, and WARM, so the feeling of reading from paper is preserved. It is surprising that for 500 you can make a warm LED, but not for 10,000. Cold light is especially unpleasant when reading at night. - Screen. For 5 years EXACTLY no progress. Not that it is necessary - and so everything is fine. But people compare - resolution, "generations" . IMHO it's all in vain, already on Kindle 3 there was quite a sufficient screen not to think about it. - Scrolling by touching the screen. You can probably get used to it, but I didn't like it. For example, you calmly scroll through, but on some page under your finger there is an active link - and you suddenly fly away to no one knows where. And it's not easy to return (see below). Buttons - what is easier? But now they are only on a luxury device, nonsense . - The "Back" button on the old Kindle was separate, and it was very warm. Always knew how to get back. Here - you still need to report to it, and then get your finger in an uncomfortable place. - I could use Kindle 5 not only without Amazon, but also without Wi-Fi. There is no problem connecting it with a wire to a laptop and resetting any books through Caliber (and in any format!). This one, right when turned on, demanded passwords for Wi-Fi and Amazon. And even without the "Skip" buttons! - I like to read in landscape orientation. This can also be done here, but the "Home screen" is always in portrait mode. It's inconvenient, it's just a bug. Total - returned to the store, stayed with the old one. Perhaps he did not understand.
