Two disturbing functions
The microphone is fine. Nothing special. In terms of comfort it has two "features" and I have no idea why Rode chose to design this mic this way. one). 9 volt battery. For real? Who uses a 9 volt battery these days? I rarely use this mic for my purposes and every time I need to use it having to find or buy a 9 volt battery is very annoying. Just pop in an AA Rode battery that everyone has handy and we're done.2). 3/8" mounting screw hole? This mic weighs about 10 ounces. No 3/8" screw is needed to hold it, use the 1/4" hole used in almost all camera accessories. Remember the Rode, it's a video mic used by people who have 'cameras.' The cameras use 1/4" mounts.
