I recently started DMing and looked at wet erase mats which I soon found were quite expensive. When I first looked at this rug, I loved the large format and the reversible option (the brown texture is really fun), but I was skeptical about the paper's durability over time. I've had the blanket for 3 months now and everything is fine. I think MOST of this has to do with the tube protector that comes with the plastic protector plates, which is absolutely necessary to protect the mat from wrinkles, tears and scratches. The edges of this rug need protection to keep it intact. I always warn players to be mindful of the edges and avoid scratching, hitting or stepping on the mat before playing. But it's great to draw on, the dry-erase quality has never been an issue while playing, and the included markers and erasers (and bonus dice) are awesome so you can start using them right away. There is some flex when you take it out of the case and put it on the table, but it still fits well so far. This rug is versatile, I think it's worth the price. This is definitely a product that you will mostly stick with as long as you can take good care of it. Definitely recommend as a special matte solution or as a great backup.
