Review on Sony SmartWatch 1 for US Market - Android Bluetooth USB Retail Packaging by Brian Schultz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much better than I thought! The apps make it the best gadget I've ever had.

I was a little worried about other reviews that said: - You couldn't see the time when the watch wasn't connected to a smartphone. Well, I turn off the bluetooth on the phone (Samsung Note 2) and the watch still works - The display of smartwatches was not visible in the sun. This applies when sunlight is aimed directly at your watch. But I could still see the time and without direct sunlight on the display and outside I could still read my notifications. - You couldn't go far from the phone without losing connection. Bluetooth works great with my cell phone. I was still able to control my phone on the first floor using the clock on the second floor, between two closed doors at least 40 feet away. - You couldn't receive calls from home with a non-Sony phone. Phone. That's true, but after uninstalling Sony's Call Handling app and installing Call Handling Pro from Nixi.com, everything was fixed. Negative sides: - Battery. With frequent use it lasted 2 days. - Not fully waterproof. Splashguard only. Pleasant surprises: the watch vibrates slightly every time you receive new notifications and display a message. It's great to have access to all the emails and messages you've received on your phone. This is one of the reasons I prefer the Pebble SmartWatch, which only gives access to the most recent emails (so far). Some apps are impressive, like VFinder, Watcher or Calendar Reminder. Calendar reminder works great with Google Calendar. All my appointments are automatically reminded of me. With VFinder you can use your phone as a surveillance camera. Watcher lets you use your watch to take pictures from your phone. If you lose your phone e.g. B. if your phone is at home, Find My Phone will ring your phone until you find it. In addition, the watch's vibration when an alarm or countdown sounds is very convenient. The most impressive app is AppWidgetDisplay by Fumiaki Tokuhisa (tip by Andreas Odegaard). This allows you to set shortcuts to most of your favorite applications. It works great with the Speaktoit helper app (and bluetooth headphones) as well as Pandora. So, the best gadget! Highly recommended! Update: The PowerAmp app makes it even better: not only can I control my music (song, volume, forward, backward), but I can also listen to downloaded radio podcasts. :)
