For reference: I wear pants size 28, waist 28 inches, hips 39 inches, I am 5 feet 8 inches tall, I bought a medium size. I really wanted to love these bottoms and almost kept them BUT the band didn't go up as high as I wanted (barely reaching my belly button and was an inch or two below my actual waist) and the band was a bit tight. It's not flattering, although the rest of the bottoms weren't as tight. Also, a similar bottom I've worn from this brand (made of the same fabric) stretched a bit in the water.
