I bought this because I didn't like the idea of storing my personal data on the internal drive of my Mac Mini as this SSD is an integral part of the motherboard. If you have to send your computer in for repair, everything on the internal drive most likely becomes the property of the person who repaired it. So I don't want to store this information on this drive. The same goes for any MacBook. I set it up as a boot drive and it works just like the internal SSD. In fact, this drive has the same specs as Apple's 1TB internal SSD. TB3 is great. I assume that you can also install another drive in the case. There are many 3rd generation hard drives that are faster and have better MTBFs than the WD Black, despite being a tried and trusted hard drive itself.
