This is a replacement triangular ceramic sharpening steel for the Spyderco sharpening system, which consists of two such steels, a plastic base and two brass guards. In my opinion this is one of the best systems for sharpening knives, including most serrated knives. If you don't have serrated blades, similar systems with two cylindrical rods could work. I ordered this when I dropped one of my ceramic triangle chopsticks and it broke. The replacement works perfectly.
