We had a big problem with frequent internet outages in our house. Our modem is fairly new but everything else is old so we thought we should get a new router. On a whim we decided to replace the old CAT-5 cable we needed to connect the modem to the router and the router to the computer before investing in a new router. We bought this CAT-8 cable in two lengths - a shorter one to connect the modem and router and a longer one to connect the router to the computer. Doesn't matter! We've transitioned from almost daily drops to infrequent service drops. Also, this white flat cable is more attractive and easier to route in corners etc. If, like us, you haven't upgraded your patch cords in a long time, then by all means do it!
