Review on πŸ“ MAXUS Espresso Scale with Timer: Small and Handy Barista Scale for Perfect Coffee Brewing by Tracey Gonzales

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Check! What a deal, what a deal. Does what you need to perfect your coffee product.

This little thing is big enough to fit in a mug or tray of beans. good size I have other kitchen scales that rest on rubber feet, so all 4 feet of this scale need to be on a flat surface to get accurate readings. Not so easy when you attach a scale to the drip tray of an espresso machine. This scale has a flat bottom, no feet that need to be in close and even contact, so you can use it on uneven surfaces like a drip pan. They are backlit! Turn it on, the display is very clear, high-contrast, with bright and automatic backlight, numbers and letters are large. Readability 10/10. This is a super plus when you're taking a morning shot or brewing a cup in a dark kitchen while you're half asleep. Displays ounces or grams to the nearest decimal place. Switch between them easily with the push of a button. Maximum capacity 1kg. The timer button works as needed. Press it, it flashes once and then starts measuring to the tenth of a second. Press the button again and it will stop and display the time, press it again and it will reset to zero. From my observations, there is no pause/resume function. The tare function resets very quickly. IMHO, it looks very cool. Restrained, modern. I have a 100 gram calibration weight that I use to check the scale's accuracy. On this scale, it reads exactly 100 grams, so the accuracy is at least half a tenth (0.05). It's very good, it's less than a coffee bean. According to the included instructions, you can recalibrate it if necessary. A procedure is mentioned, but it refers to a diagram that wasn't included, so that part isn't clear. But I guess that's not a problem, I use digital scales for a heavy-duty life (pro kitchens), I've never had to recalibrate any of them. If you have the slightest idea that you want to measure and set up your coffee/espresso machine, go ahead and do it. What is your goal? 18.5 grams of coffee 30 seconds before the last portion weight of 35 grams? Whatever it is, this device will get you there. We live in a wonderful time when quality tools like this are available at such a great price.
