So I've been looking for a good RJ45 adapter for a long time, came across this one at a good price and bought it. As soon as I got it I tried it. It goes from a 1 Gbps connection on a Net Gear Nighthawk router to my attic with coil 8 and to my bedroom wall. I have a regular male connected to the end of this exit from the wall. So I plugged in the attached cable and plugged the other end into my desktop with gigabit ethernet. I was disappointed to find that the speed was only around 200Mbps. I checked my connection, I even took my laptop which also has gigabit ethernet (work computer) and plugged it straight into the connected outlet (I had 1Gbps up and down. I got confused when I it didn't). Use the connector, I have normal speeds, but when I used the connector I got less than 1/4 speed best choice for you. I move a lot of files, sometimes up to 1TB in size, to a remote job server and I need to be connected to that so I don't always have to rummage through my small laptop. It just doesn't fit for anything above the minimum or low internet standard , so be aware if you have a connection over 300MB/s you will get something else you will not get your full speed
