Review on Melissa & Doug Solid Wood Table and 2 Chairs Set - Light Finish: Perfect Playroom Furniture for Kids by David Barit

Revainrating 3 out of 5

disappointing size, good for kids furniture

I stumbled across this table as I wanted an activity/play table to fit in one of my daughter's rooms. Melissa & Doug is a highly respected company as there is no doubt that this is a quality table. However, the reason I felt the need to write this review is because this product is deceptive. The picture shows two children under the age of two sitting at this table and coloring together. If you look closely, the kids are SMALL, as are the torn coloring pages (one of them is from a mini book) and they have 4-5 markers on the table. I want to say that this table is indicated for children from 1 to 8 years old. In the picture the table looks perfect for young children to have a generous play area, which is not really the case. If you don't plan to give your kids 4 pens and torn sheets, coloring books and workbooks will fall off the table. Not to mention there's no room for a box of crayons or a set of markers, as two full-size coloring books take up (and dangle) the entire table. You have the option to add two more chairs for "friends", imagine how much space they will have! I'm not here to beat the table because it's perfect for a toddler (but he'll outgrow it in a year) who wants to play with blocks or a toy. The table is very nice, everything I wanted except for the size. It is neatly painted, clean and HEAVY. My girls go crazy and break everything, even the last table I ordered for them from Amazon, you can't beat this table. Plus, the instructions are easy to read and it takes ten minutes to assemble if you have a basic drill. I ordered a Melissa & Doug children's desk in white to go with this table. I won't disassemble and send it back because I'm lazy, but I regret not having ordered two lift tables. The lift top is just a little smaller and has storage space inside! So better buy a folding table! In the meantime, I imagine my kids having fun at this table!
