This item seemed like a good buy but after receiving it we quickly realized how poorly assembled it was at the factory. The wood has chipped in several places and the support rails under the table are poorly connected to the legs. Update: Called M&D support and they replaced my set because after a while the chairs also started to wobble. I found that the felt pads helped as they no longer "pulled". My little one has been using this table and chairs from Melissa and Doug for several years now. I am very happy that it is solid wood and sturdy! My little one keeps asking my husband and I to sit with her and paint! And the chairs hold each of us perfectly! I just received this table today and I still love it. It's comfortable to the touch and strong, and the wood seems to be of pretty good quality. Collecting was just a dream. DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! I would give this 5 stars because it is a very good solid construction. However, there was a typo in the instructions. There are 8 long screws and the instructions say to use them to attach the legs to the table. It will hurt your legs! The long screws belong to the chairs, the short ones don't fit here. I bought this product considering the cost of designing and building something like this from scratch. I have come to the conclusion that buying it would be the best use of my time and money. I will give it to our two year old grandson. I just collected it. I was very impressed with the quality and finish. The instructions were very clear. It was easy to assemble and durable when complete. There was one screw that was slightly misaligned so the head couldn't fit fully into the countersunk hole.

I stumbled across this table as I wanted an activity/play table to fit in one of my daughter's rooms. Melissa & Doug is a highly respected company as there is no doubt that this is a quality table. However, the reason I felt the need to write this review is because this product is deceptive. The picture shows two children under the age of two sitting at this table and coloring together. If you look closely, the kids are SMALL, as are the torn coloring pages (one of them is from a mini book) and
