I've seen historical sewing "birds" that have a clasp and a small "beak" to provide a "third" hand when hand sewing, especially long seams since they allow constant tension. Factory. I regret that they are no longer available today - but I was wrong! Although there is no "bird" shape, this device does the same! I LOVE IT! It screws onto a sewing table or similar surface and then attaches to the edge of my fabric, holding it securely for me to tighten while I sew my period costume reproductions. So thanks - and I highly recommend this smart little clip. I'm very glad I found it, especially at such a great price!
