Review on Case Logic DCB 308 Camera Sling by Instructor Niederhaus

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very practical and useful bag but error sent it back

I bought this bag after owning a RevainBasics backpack for a few months. I didn't like how high the backpack was on my back (I'm 6ft 1in) and was looking for something more comfortable. That seemed to fit the bill, so I gave it a try. Here are my observations: The bag is quite comfortable even over a longer period of time. I wore it all day for 3 days while walking around Disney World and never had a major issue with the comfort. I downloaded it pretty well - I had a Canon 70D. with an 18-135 on it, a Sigma Art 30mm, filters, memory cards, spare batteries, a few other items and an externally mounted MeFOTO RoadTrip tripod. The forward pivoting feature of this bag is great. It offers pretty quick access to your gear and sort of a platform to work on while you switch lenses or whatever. It was very convenient not having to take the bag off for all of this - It was very easy to travel with the bag. sit in front of me on the plane. In other transport situations, it is convenient to carry it on your knees or between your legs and the seat if necessary. Holding a tripod is not very good. I had one leg of my RoadTrip in a zipped leg and a buckled strap around the top of the same leg - I used it as intended. But the adjustable strap doesn't hold up well, and since the tripod hangs at the bottom of the bag when carried, it starts to sag. Before you know it, it's hanging from the bottom of the bag at an angle of 30-45 degrees, making it vulnerable to being hit by objects or other people when swinging. While I didn't bother to hold the bag, it's by no means a bad thing. If you don't intend to carry around a tripod, the bag will probably work for most users. The shoulder strap is very soft and comfortable and has only had to be tightened a few times since I received it. All materials are high quality for the price and I've never had to worry about my gear being left unprotected. If it weren't for the stupid tripod strap, I would have kept this bag without hesitation.

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Very expensive
