Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter: 4K HD Support, Thunderbolt 2/DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI, Slim Aluminum Casing, MacBook Air/Pro, iMac, Surface Pro, Monitor, Projector by Donna Maupin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Incredibly, this works great to connect your Surface Pro 4 to an HDMI 4k display via the MS Dock!

I never leave reviews because I'm usually too busy to ever read them. However, I understand that many people are having trouble connecting their Microsoft Surface Pro 4 to 4k HDMI displays (i.e. TVs) via the new MS Dock, which I wanted to share my experience with. I connect to a curved Samsung UN40JU7100 monitor. After trying active CableMatters and Startech adapters (both show noise at the top of the screen), I decided to give Moshi a try based on one of two other reviews of the product. Of course, I doubted the legitimacy of the review, especially since I'd never heard of Moshi, but surprisingly, it works like a dork! Now I'm getting very clean 4k@30hz which looks amazing for what I'm doing (performance, not gaming). This was to be my last attempt at an active adapter. My next step was to send the dock back and buy one of the old service pack 3 docks (which I hear work great even without an active adapter). I know this thing is three times the price of other active adapters, but trust me this is a real solution and one of the few that seems to exist right now. Another great adapter. However, I just got one of the newer adapters with a chip that can play 4k@60hz and the difference is the noticeably better resolution. Again this only works with an i5 Surface Pro 4 on a Samsung UN40JU6700 and the adapter settings show it is now running at 60Hz. Clarity does appear to be improved (although it's really only motion that should be improved). Revain listing link for another adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019ZQ5GX0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now I feel like I've tried everything there is , but I'm very glad I did this. Text is very, very sharp and Samsung's colors are always amazing. Black really does appear inky black now, so I have no doubt that contrast has improved as well. Good luck to everyone else trying to find a combo that works for SP4. This one definitely does.

Pros
  • Aluminum housing minimizes EMI.
Cons
  • A few little things
