Review on Seasonic FOCUS GX-850: The Ultimate 850W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply for Gaming and More - SSR-850FX by Kim Knowles

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Extremely efficient and quiet

I bought a Focus PX 750 ('20) for $139, worth every penny. And compared to my old green label Corsair CX600M, which used over 550 watts during my testing. In the test, the PX draws a maximum of 420 watts. I've also noticed that the standby power drawn from the wall has dropped from 120W to around 70W. This thing is virtually silent even with the fan on. As long as I like it 12V 5V and 3V excursions look good. 12V does not drop at idle or under load. Norb makes 5v. 3.3V sometimes bounces off 3.296V, but that's perfectly acceptable. To be honest, these are some of the most consistent tensions I've ever seen. Specifications: R7 2700xMSI 5700 XT Gaming XMSI B450 Tomahawk. Seasonic really improved their game and fixed some issues they had with OCP. The packaging is great too. I love the bags they come with. They are great for storing unused cables! I also noticed that my GPU also supports higher clock speeds under load. Now I guarantee that most of you won't see a performance increase like I did, but instead an increase in reliability and possibly an increase in overclocking stability. This is because I am upgrading from an older, lower quality power supply. There was even a static ticking noise under load, indicating the need for a new PSU. But if you have a crappy PSU and decide to get a decent heart for your computer. You will definitely notice the difference, just like me.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Quality
