My intuition before ordering these stands was that I could expect them to lift more than they were designed for. This turned out to be true simply because the combined weight of my LARGE cargo box lid and the requirement that this type of strut be mounted close to the pivot point of the hinge exceeded their 67 pound load capacity. While I didn't measure the axial resistance of the struts, I tried squeezing one of them by pinching one end and the other end on the ground - even with a leather glove it was almost painful just to get the piston rod to go on few inches down, so I don't think the 67 pound rating is exaggerated. Even though I returned them for a refund, I would order them again for a less demanding application. The materials and manufacturing appear to be of high quality, and the support rep I emailed was polite, helpful, and quick to respond.
