Excellent value for money, reliable for an entry-level device

Excellent value for money, reliable for an entry-level device. Without a counterweight, this structure is not stable enough. You need a 3 pound counterweight. Here's how to build one that looks professional and only costs about $5. I went to a hardware store and bought 2-4" hex head screws (8.8 metric thread) and 50-2" washers. You will also need 2 nuts with nylon inserts to thread onto the carriage bolts. Place 25 washers on each bolt, tighten the nylon nut, and then wrap tightly with electrical tape or paint black. You can also dip them in black epoxy or resin and let them cure. They only do it for aesthetic reasons and hide the fact that you have 50 pucks as a weight on the back of your rig. Then, instead of putting the 2 blue caps on the ends of the tubes behind the shoulder pad, screw the screws you just made into the tubes. (If you're buying bolts, take one of the tubes with you to make sure it threads all the way onto the bolt. I've included photos of my weights. Enjoy! You may need to add more washers to the longer bolt if you have a heavier one Camera or optional camera components.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Low repairability

Love this DIY rig, takes a little manipulation but cheap(er) and worth it.
