Review on Unleash Your Inner Creator with Skull King's Ultimate Kingdom by Evan Haynes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great adaptation for all ages

Skull King is a trick and stakes game in the spirit of Oh Hell (somewhat similar to Hearts). It adds twists to make the experience more exciting: 1. Everyone bets at the same time. Players have no idea what bets the others are going to make, leading to a hilarious panic when the group is over or under the actual number of tricks.2. The game uses the 3 standard suits plus the trump suit, but also limited "face" cards that can outperform the trump and the king of skulls, who beats everything. Along with a few other disadvantages, this makes it difficult for players to accurately predict how strong their cards are. You think you know, but you never get it 100%.3. Scoring is easy, but betting on 0 tricks creates another problem. This is an all or nothing deal where the bidder wins or loses by softening the "sneakers" winning by making small bets on this type of game. The rules are easy to understand for everyone from 6-7 years of age. and less experienced players will not spoil the fun for anyone. It becomes just another variable. This would be a great family or high school/college dorm game, but honestly anyone can play it. My family is very happy about it. It has not become obsolete even after numerous repetitions. It's quick and easy. 15-20 minutes per game, depending on the number of players. Enthusiastic thumbs up. Take it. You'll never have to play Oh Hell again, and it will likely replace Hearts for the under-60s.
