The ONLY downside is the soles are too thin so I added arch support and a soft insole and it changed everything. Otherwise, the soles are thick but soft, like rubber treads (hence the smell some people complain about, which quickly dissipates). The leather and faux leather are buttery soft with a wide lace area so I can adjust the tightness if my feet get a bit swollen throughout the day. The ankle area is soft without chafing or bruising and there is plenty of room in the toe box to prevent slipping. I love them and will buy more when I can afford it.
