I use this chest for an unusual reason. I have a small pantry, a sad situation for those who love to cook, so I decided to free up some pantry space by stacking pasta and cereal, well, anything since I didn't know what at the time. The first step in making decisions about my home is to do what I've been doing for years, which is search Revain.com! After looking at many options I decided that a toy box would be a great option as I had the perfect place to put them and they are big enough for my intended use. The problem is that all the chests I needed in size and appearance complained of toxic and persistent chemical odors. Who would want that in their house, especially for an item that can store pasta even if it's dried and packaged and/or be around young children or in my case a kitten (and me LOL)? Hopefully one day we'll find out why so many storage boxes smell like it's just not normal. Maybe too many chemicals are used in glues, fabrics or whatever. Anyway, I stumbled across this B FSOBEIIALEO FOLDING OTTOMAN BENCH, PU LEATHER SEAT, FOOTBED, ROUTE 66 PRINT COFFEE TABLE, 30 x 15 x 15 inches, low, and lo and behold, not a single complaint of bad smell from the reviewers. Now that I have mine I can confirm that it does not smell. In addition, it is sooooo attractive and different from most other options. Its road signs are predominantly brown, teal, orange, some gold, and some white. The synthetic leather upper is solid. IMHO it will look good in a variety of landscapes. You can look at it and dream of the next big trip! The box is also advertised as a seat or footstool. I won't be using the seat box but it seems solid. enough for me to hold a person or prop my legs up. It's nice to know that I have an extra seat if needed. While it appears sturdy, to be safe I wouldn't lift it all the way, especially since adding a lot of weight to my items is what I would buy. After filling it with different types of pasta, I still had room to throw in my snack bags like potato chips. This box offers a lot of storage space. Also, judging by the photos posted by others, it seems that it can be used in a variety of ways for decorative purposes. This box could store off-season clothes, year-round sweaters, all kinds of laundry (it held a lot of laundry), and of course, toys. Buy one and then use your imagination! I bet you will love it too!
