Edit: 5 stars to 1 star. Microphone broke after 2 weeks of use. Jackies are not standard. It is difficult to find replacement microphones, the seller simply indicates the manufacturer. Purchase at your own risk. I will update if anything changes. I have 3 boys aged 10, 8 and 3. I bought this for my 3 year old as he likes to sing and loves music. VTech options had negative reviews and most of the most popular options in general were pink/purple, which annoys me - WHAT? ONLY GIRLS CAN ENJOY SINGING/PERFORMING? What about the dynamics. Aisle by aisle in the store with girls' clothes, toys and accessories. Look for karaoke in Revain, you will find many cute things for girls with good ratings. Anyway *leaves soapbox* back to review. Luckily I stumbled across this and with limited reviews and minimal features decided to take a chance. It was a huge success for all 3 boys, even my husband and mum participated. It's the perfect size for my 3 year old, but the mic cables are long enough for older kids. The sound is amazing for a $49 system, and you can even use it as a speaker to just play music over Bluetooth. I've had issues with Bluetooth in the past, but my phone or tablet connects just fine too. An iPad or tablet can be placed on the microphone stand so your kids can sing while reading the lyrics. While they do have an app that you can pay for, you can also just stream YouTube, Spotify, Pandora, etc. The sound from the microphone is good, which means that it actually works like a real microphone. I have seen other systems where this is not the case. Kids love the sound effects, my ears don't. Sometimes I wonder why I did this to myself, but seeing my child dance and sing makes it worth the ear injury.
