When not in use, soap flows down the side of the handle. I have a cart that I put it in vertically and it just flows from the side. Pressing the button to get the soap into the sponge doesn't work. It gets stuck on the back of the sponge and never penetrates where I can use soap to clean. I end up having to take a bottle of soap and put something on the plate I'm washing. Kind of defeats the point of buying one of these. I only use regular dishwashing liquid from Dawn. 2 stars because it's decent as a regular sponge wand (comes with a spare and cleaning head for example) but I would NOT pay that much for just a wand. I also wanted something to hold the detergent.
