Review on Kuryakyn 1026 Extended Girder Shift by Eric Beck

Now for the good. 2

The hole for the shifter shaft was sewn incorrectly, resulting in the lever not seating properly on the shaft and not allowing the pinch bolt to pass. When I saw I needed it for the next day's ride, I sanded the back of the arm to get the lag bolt through and installed the arm. Since the hole was at a slight angle, this resulted in the lever hanging off the primary body. More loops to get the right distance between arm and body. This was on a 2003 UN modified Road King. After a corresponding adjustment, the lever was released. Now for the good. An additional 2.5 inches of length has significantly increased plank space. I can move without taking my foot off the ground and I have more legroom. If the lever was properly cocked, it would have been worth every penny I paid for it. It's still on the bike and I'm still using it, but I'm waiting for it to start rusting because I have to sand it down to remove the chrome.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
