When I opened it the chemical smell was sooooo strong. Thought to return. Then I decided to leave it in water with vinegar and soda for a while. The smell didn't really go away, but I decided to make popsicles anyway. The next day they took it out of the freezer, it didn't smell at all. The popsicle didn't smell either. I think it takes time for the smell to dissipate. Otherwise it works great. It is easy to pull out if you gently press the bottom and open the hole. With a little push from below, the popsicle comes out easily.
