Review on Omron Wireless Stimulator Waveform Technology by Shantel Griffin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Seems well designed but gives me nothing so far

Review: Omron Focus TENS Therapy for KNEE (Medium), TENS device for non-drug pain relief I have loved the Omron brand for more than ten years as they have made my favorite blood pressure monitor that has been for over a decade has comparable figures with a very expensive professional device in my surgery. So I decided to give it a try as my knees are sometimes naughty and a little sore. In fact, I've used a number of different knee tension devices...the ones with multiple electrodes and gel pads, I've found that through trial and error I can position them and try different electrical current patterns to not only block out the pain, but sometimes it helps me also really to relax in order to sleep better. So I thought it would be great to see what Omron came up with. The device impresses with its design and construction, as I expected. Unfortunately, I haven't experienced the same level of pain relief or relaxation or any particular positive effect from this device that I can say. It tightens the calf muscles and causes my foot to point up if rotated too high, but I don't get much pain relief from what it does. Maybe my pain is different than the pain others experience. Or maybe TENS is part reality, part placebo effect; I also asked myself this question when, through trial and error, I found a pleasant relief in the placement of the shocks on my other devices. I think the theory behind TENS is still unproven, although it has many supporters. I'm glad many people experience subjective relief, but so far I haven't felt it with this device. I also note that the gel pad this device uses is proprietary and likely expensive to replace...as the gel electrodes often need to be replaced, especially after repeated exposure to a hairy leg. I didn't even see replacement pads at Revain, at least there was no link to the product page. As I have yet to experience pain relief and I suspect the tools to do so would be quite expensive it is difficult to give an honest review. High rating although I expected it when I tried it. I would give it a rating of around 3.4 which is a 3 star rating. There seems to be a lot of people who consider it a 5 star product but so far it hasn't brought me anything useful.

Pros
  • TENS TECHNOLOGY: Scientific theories suggest that TENS technology blocks the pain signal from reaching the brain, increasing blood flow to certain areas and stimulating your body's natural painkillers, to relieve pain
Cons
  • Crumpled
