There isn't much elastic in the waistband, but that suits me. I really like the weight - warmer than athletic jogging pants but not hot like fleece. And the material is also quite elastic. Now for the minus - the seams. I bought these to find pants to wear in a layer on runs in 20-40F which is typical for Pennsylvania winters. walking, which is very troublesome. Will still be using them for the colder side of those runs with running tights underneath, just a disappointment I thought I found my 1 layer but still need 2.
