When I built it I thought the instructions could be a bit more detailed. The filter and reservoir are perfect for bettas, but I'm not sure about goldfish. A goldfish needs a tank of around 10-25 gallons depending on how much you want. Putting goldfish in this aquarium will stop their growth and shorten their lifespan. I really like bettas because they are strong, smart and beautiful fish. If you take really good care of a beta, he or she can live up to four or five years. Please research the fish species before purchasing an aquarium. The lid of this tank could be a little tighter at the back and anything for feeding shouldn't be that close to the tank wall. The flakes simply cling to the moisture on the sides of the tank. You don't have to worry, you can just lift the lid and feed him. I added some decorations he had from a previous tank, this one didn't match his stone but it would probably be nice if I didn't have a filter. It has no light, but that's ok. If you leave the light on for too long, the water will get a bit cloudy anyway. It's not a silent filter, but I like noise because it's relaxing while watching your fish. The reason I didn't give that five stars is because the instructions and clips are on the back of the tank. Everything else is perfect. Goldfish food that I donate to the local nursing home. I'm even considering putting some snails in the aquarium for his company.
