Review on Maximize Sound Control with Monoprice 108231 Speaker Selector by Reginald Hamilton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It copes with its task, but it knocks down the signal badly.

I bought these because we have two sets of outdoor speakers - one set is installed on the patio and the other set is stone speakers in the yard (imagine four speakers forming the corners of the area ). Our receiver has both A and B speaker jacks, but due to the difference in brand and speaker design, the patio setup was much louder. The receiver has no way to control the volume of speakers A and B. So I bought this to control the volume of each set of speakers and get a good balance. This works, but the device introduces a lot of waste; With the speakers connected and turned on, I had to turn the volume up to 90 out of 100 in the receiver for a comfortable listening experience. I ended up reconnecting the B (rock) speakers to the receiver's B speaker output and leaving that arrangement for the A speakers to act as an L-pad of sorts. There is so much loss when connecting a Monoprice device that I had to turn down the volume on the device with just one click. Ultimately, it offers what we need, but not in the way I intended.
