My first two tries I was very happy with this little sharpener. For testing purposes, I used it on eyebrow pencils. The first two worked fine, then the usual splitting of wood, broken end of the crayon we all know happened! Being black plastic, the black piece of eyebrow pencil stuck in the blade was hard to see, and when I saw it, it didn't pull off easily. I used a regular #2 pencil because of the harder lead and just sharpened it to get the crayon out. Then I tried a big side and tipped a very soft nude concealer and it broke a couple of times. Thinking about the wood again, I just stopped before it broke again. The other thing I didn't care about was the rest chamber. the part of the box where the chips and lace go. There's very little space to store shavings, so you really need to clear them out before you're done sharpening or things can get clogged in there. It makes sense to just pop that compartment open and shave over the trash can. It's good to have a new sharpener before the blades dull though, even if it doesn't last very long!
