Review on Maxell CD-330 CD-to-Cassette Adapter: High Quality Audio Conversion (190038) by Simo Ramsey

These are surprisingly simple devices. If you had an old tape recorder that you could disassemble into a read/write head, any electronic hobbyist could put it back together. Luckily the price reflects this, so it's just not worth making one. Unfortunately, the low price doesn't support full quality control. The first one I popped out of my car's player every 30 seconds or so. Then he played for 10 minutes and broke out because of the silence between tracks. I have no idea how the player's "auto-eject" feature interacts with the cartridge, so I didn't know where to start to troubleshoot the issue. Works flawlessly. I only gave three stars due to the need to replace it. A TIP: Where the wire comes out in a corner, there is a channel the length of the cartridge body that you can insert the wire into. Do this and it will help protect the connection where the wire enters the cartridge body, extending the life of the item.
