Fades quickly when using a rosary

These eyelet pins came in the mail very quickly. I was excited when I disassembled all of my rosaries to replace my existing eyelet pins. You looked beautiful. BUT after 2 weeks they looked and smelled fading. I've come to the conclusion that gold-filled eyelet pins work best for longtime favorite rosaries.
