With most airlines now charging for luggage (including carry-on luggage), the obvious feature is a backpack with a compression kit. So my impression of this product is good. Don't expect it to be flat once you tighten it - it will be round (like a soccer ball) but it compresses clothes so well you'll fit a lot of things in the same space.
