Review on MAGNAVOX MDR513H F7 Recorder Digital by Shawn Xayamonty

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for!

The advantage of this recorder is that you are no longer limited to recording 2 hours of good quality video or 3-4 hours of decent quality video as you would with a standard DVD recorder would do. The built-in 320GB hard drive is enough to record, for example, a 24-hour marathon of your favorite show in good (SP) quality, and you still have 104 hours of free time to record. You can edit your episodes and save them to DVD, you can also protect them from being automatically deleted when the device detects you're running out of disk space, or you can simply delete them when you're done watching. I've been using DVD recorders for years because I like to save my favorite shows on DVD and import them to my computer where I have enough hard drive space for it. DVD recorders work like a video recorder. You can record a program while watching it and press the pause button during commercials to avoid commercials in your recording. Or you can set it to record and after importing the video to your computer, you can edit the ads with software like Pinnacle, Roxio, etc. These applications also import your videos from the disc. THIS DEVICE WORKS MUCH BETTER. The device editing feature is much more reliable and user-friendly than most video editing programs I've used. For example, you can record something from the TV to the device's hard drive and edit the commercial before saving it to the hard drive. All you have to do is click on the headline you want to edit. Select Delete Scene, then Fast Forward to the beginning of the commercial, then click Start, then Fast Forward to the end of the commercial, then click End. You can then preview your edit before deleting it, or just delete it without previewing it. Then fast-forward to the next ad unit and repeat the steps to the end of your video. It takes about five minutes to edit an hour-long show once you get the hang of it. If you don't change the recording quality of your video before saving it to DVD, for example if the original recording quality was SP mode and you dub it to DVD in SP mode, it will be burned to disc in just a few minutes. Suppose the original recording is in SP mode and you want the quality e.g. For example, change to SPP or EP mode when dubbing is playing the entire video. In addition, you can not only record from the TV, but also copy DVDs to the device's hard drive and edit from there. You can also dub from a VCR or camcorder to the device's hard drive and do the same. This unit can be used as a DVR, but unlike a DVR, you have to manually program the recording time and set the cable box to change channels. In the right time. Also note that this recorder doesn't record in HD, which almost no standalone device does. However, it only converts to 1080P for playback. Shows broadcast in 480P will have black bars on the sides, while shows broadcast in 480P widescreen may have black bars on the sides and top and bottom; but it has a very good zoom function to compensate for this during playback.
