Not so bad, just keep the door closed!

I just bought a second Diaper Genie for my brother who is expecting his first child in February. My little girl is a year and a half now so my diaper ghost is so many years old. I must say that the thing is very comfortable. I haven't had any other diaper pails so I have no experience comparing them but I'll give you my pros and cons on this item and you can decide where to go next. Pros: Aside from stuffing it in trash bags and having a charcoal filter on top, the Diaper Genie comes pre-assembled. When my baby was younger and bottle fed, her #2 meal was dirty but not overly smelly. Should the Diaper Genie get "dirty" in the worst case, it could simply be rinsed off with a hose or simply used with disinfectant wipes. When she started eating solid foods, man gave her stink #2. This diaper genius is a lifesaver and better than using a plastic bag at the grocery store or throwing dirty diapers in the trash can. It does an excellent job of isolating odors. Finally, the Diaper Genie doesn't stand out in any way and goes well with any setup your child might have. Replacing the pouches can be easy as the kit includes a small mechanism to cut open the pouch. Just don't let the bag get too full as that can complicate things. CONS: This is great at trapping smells, but when you open the door you let the beast out! I highly recommend purchasing additional activated carbon filters as they will reduce the odor a bit. I think that goes for any diaper pail. Expect revenge from the smells when you open this door. Also, it took me a minute to learn how to install garbage bags, but my wife had no problem. It was probably just user error. Another downside is that these bag fillers are not expensive, but they are not cheap either. If you have multiple children, you may be able to finish a little quicker. Now I only have one little girl so it's not a big problem for me. I've seen others comment that the door doesn't close properly which just means the diaper pail is very full. Change that bad boy and you shouldn't have any problems. In the end, I highly recommend this product as it will save your nose. Do yourself a favor and grab some extra activated carbon filters.
