Amazed at how my neck has improved in just a week

Updated Dec 2016: Below I mentioned I was surprised I didn't wake up with a sore ear using this pillow. Well, eventually my ears started to complain. It took me about a month or two to realize that I was no longer getting 8 hours of sleep a night due to having to get up earlier than usual because of my sore ears. I've also noticed that it takes longer to fall asleep. At some point I gave up and cut up my previous "water base pillow" (https://smile.amazon.com/Mediflow-1006-06-Original-Waterbase-Pillow/dp/B003J372NS/). This is the PERFECT soft padded layer to modify your buckwheat pillow with. Unlike most pillows, which are made from small pieces of material, the Waterbase pillow is made from flat "sheets" of the softest fiber I've ever seen in a pillow. (The soft fiber is stacked like layers of puff pastry, if that helps you visualize it.) So I took about a quarter of the layers of fiber and laid them on one side of the buckwheat pad, and then put my thermal pad inside. pillowcase. Much better! The soft layer does not affect the effectiveness of the pillow; I fall asleep faster and sleep longer. The water pillow is cheap enough to just cut into "pieces" but it's worth a try too. (I liked it for about a year until I realized it didn't hold its shape as night fell.) Sometimes I still wake up with two tired ears, so I grab the little "dream" pearl pillow that I bought from Bed Bath & Beyond (great for travel) and it's super soft for that last morning nap. I hope this helps anyone who has had to forgo a buckwheat flour pillow when they found it too difficult. First I bought a 15x26 pillow. My husband tried it and loved it (and wanted to keep it!). I tried it out for a couple of nights and then bought the 15x23 size (which is perfect for me; I'm short and prefer a lighter weight if I need to move it). We both have neck and back issues and both see a chiropractor monthly for preventive maintenance. My neck causes problems with my right elbow, which needs constant adjustment (inside the elbow, aka "golfer's elbow"). When my pinky started to develop trigger finger due to the same condition, I looked for a new pad. I've tried a number of them over the years; The water pillow was the best - so far. Now let's come to the review of this buckwheat pillow. It took both of us a few nights to get used to the crunching noise and relative firmness of the pillow's contents. With regular pillows I sometimes have trouble waking up with an earache from lying on one side for too long. So I was very surprised that I did NOT get an earache with a buckwheat pillow! We both find that after shaping it goes under our neck, it will help if we then poke a small hole where our ear falls. Since the pillow does not deform under the weight of your head, it can be worn for hours. (My husband seems to have a heavy head, and even the best foam pillows flatten out overnight, so he loves that they hold their shape.) The BEST news is that my neck is feeling MUCH better in just a week! My elbow pain went away, and the night before my menstrual adjustment, my elbow cracked badly. When I visited ciro yesterday he didn't have to set it up at all! This is probably the first time in five years that it doesn't need an adjustment and is a sign that my body is adjusting properly. My index finger is gone too. It's a nice change not to be in excruciating mild pain all day. I'll add that we use a pillowcase that's supposed to dissipate heat (I use one from Sleep Number). This adds a bit of softness, which reduces stiffness and also helps keep the pillow clean. Then we put a pillowcase on this cover; Both covers are easy to wash. Would I rather have a nice soft fluffy pillow? Of course (the water pillow is very soft). But not at the expense of waking up with a sore throat and all the problems that come with it. I would highly recommend anyone with neck and elbow issues to try this pillow. After all, this is nothing more than a visit to ciro. hp Another great investment is an inversion table. We bought the Teeter Hang-up last year and I can raise my middle back once or twice a day depending on my needs. Helps support my back between visits to the hero. I wish I had bought this a few years ago too!
