I would describe it as a multimode TENS unit rather than a massager. The heat actually gets pretty hot (if that's what you want). This works very well for tense/stiff necks or muscle spasms. I would recommend turning it on and cranking it all the way out and then slowly increasing the force, especially if you've never used a TENS unit before. It certainly works best if you can lean against a chair/armchair or lie down on a couch because that puts a little more pressure on him, but it doesn't have to be. It is very comfortable and looks very attractive. You can easily use it while driving or in the office. 4 stars instead of 5 because it doesn't really massage, which was a bit misleading even after reading the full description.
