Review on Pack of 3 Sunshine Polishing Cloths for Sterling Silver, Gold, Brass, and Copper Jewelry - Effective Cloth for Jewelry Polishing by Morgan Gilmore

The best solution for daily/light cleaning of silver.

I have been using Sunshine (a brand name of the product) for many years and they are best for the "daily" cleaning of your silver jewelry and silver items around the house. Easy to use, they won't scratch silver. Use them and throw them away, get new ones. Make sure you have one in your home arsenal to clean your own silver plate or sterling silver. (They won't help you with "tarnish resistant" [sic] plated silver items.) Each item is packaged in its own ziplock bag. Keep a bag and keep the cloth in it. Well if the fabric is dry or something but that keeps the fabric from getting soiled with something else if you toss it in a drawer (like me) or in a box of detergents. Two things: if you use the rags, they get ugly. This is because they "wipe" the tarnish off your silver and it sticks to the fabric, turning it black and dirty. Because of this, you'll want to use a cloth for *fine* cleaning, or "daily" (i.e. weekly, monthly, or whatever) cleaning. I suggest not using fabric on silver that is completely black (or close to) with tarnishing as this will result in the fabric being lost. Clean first with a good silver cleaner (I use silver foam - it's very gentle) and then use it for occasional touch-ups. Why? Because cloth works like this: you use it until it's completely black and then throw it away. Don't wash the rag, don't throw it in the washing machine or anything - it will make a horrible mess of everything in the car and will likely clog the inside of your car, so it needs cleaning. Ba! No fun. The cloths are fairly inexpensive and last a long time depending on how much silver you have and how often you need to clean it. So it's really not that hard to replace them. Trust me, it's "cheap twice the price" because it saves you the time and hassle of fully cleaning your silver. They leave your hands with a weird feeling - like you've played with plasticine - and are definitely dirty in fabric and silver, but it's easy: just wash your hands as you normally would. There is nothing toxic or harmful to the skin on the fabric (please note I have no issues with contact allergies or dermatitis so I cannot speak for those with hypersensitive skin!) As for the silver jewelry that I wear regularly, I rarely use fabric. The same goes for the silver spoons and forks (etc.) that we use every day. The reason is simple: the more you use your silver, the less you have to clean it. Just wash your hands as usual.
