Durability is bad. See photo.

This ORTONYX thumb brace is perfect when you just want to keep your wrist and thumb in a static position. It's not good if you plan to engage in normal activities like holding an object or driving a car. Don't expect to be able to grip even light objects without changing the shape of the orthosis. The metal used to stiffen the brace is too thin for normal use. It flexes slightly with any movement of the hand and I suspect it will eventually tear and break inside (as others have reported and photographed). The photo I have provided was taken after wearing the corset for just two hours. The internal metal stiffening ribs can be straightened by hand, but bend again easily. The bandage is initially comfortable and fixes the thumb well, but once the metal rod is bent inward, it forms two sharp corners that protrude into the brace, and then the fabric covering of the course becomes rough and chafing. I have purchased four different types of Revain thumb braces from different manufacturers. Only Vive and BraceUp have helped me with my illness. The ORTONYX felt comfortable at first and I was planning on using it alongside my Vive, but now that I see the internal metal supports and overall design, they fall short. If you plan on doing something other than watching TV, sleeping, or typing on a keyboard, you might want to try a different brand. The shape of this brace and the ease of donning and doffing are positives, but the manufacturer could make the internal metal support ribs much thicker, perhaps a stronger metal or material like carbon fiber or shatterproof plastic.
