They chip easily because they are slate so keep that in mind. They absorb some liquid but not as much as cork. If you don't clean them regularly they will end up ringing, but this is a natural material so they soak up and absorb condensation as you use them. Because it is black, it will become visible over time. That's all for the negatives. They have a cute little holder that we use to store spares for later use. They have little foam feet that keep them off the surface. It's definitely some kind of pedestal. Haha
