So firstly I almost didn't buy it because the reviews said how difficult it was to open the bucket but I wanted my salts in something that wouldn't be easy to spill. So I dared. Then I took the bucket and looked closely at the lid, it has a tongue. I took it off and it was easy to open! Then I replaced the cover. It snaps into place and risks falling apart like bags! Just check the lid before opening. The tool shown in the picture is not even needed!
