Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Lisle 56150 Combination Flaring Tool: Professional-grade Tool for Precision Flaring Applications by Scott Gendron

Big Disappointment

I needed this tool to make ISO bladder flares in some brake lines. I'm usually a fan of Lisle instruments, but not this time. I find it strange that the brand "Lisleโ€ is neither on the instrument nor on the case. I have Snap-on, Mac, Craftman, KD, S&K and other high quality tools so I know what good tools are. I'm a machinist/mechanic with over 30 years experience so I know how to use these tools too. The main problem I see with the design of this tool is that unlike my other double flare tools, this tool causes the die to rotate relative to the tube leaving a very poor finish on the sealing surface. I've tried a 3/16 steel brake line, a 3/16 Cunifer line, which is copper-nickel alloy and flares lighter than steel, a 5/16 fuel line, and neither flare worked. The 5/16 tube was the worst, bulging out of the yoke and even more skewed than the 3/16 tube. Just for reference, the 5/16 tubing is only 0.0025" smaller in diameter than the 8mm tubing, so it should work just fine. I will be returning this tool for a refund.
