Sometimes I travel by car with my English Cocker Spaniel. His breeder recommends a hard walled kennel for car travel (for safety) but suggested getting a soft sided collapsible cage as well to take to hotel rooms etc. This is MUCH easier than lugging a bulky hard-sided cage around the hotel. .I first bought a 30" EliteField cage but it was too big for my 25lb dog. I replaced it with the 24 inch version and it was the perfect size. The box is a very comfortable weight, even for an old crank like me. And it comes with a zip case with detachable strap. The box is very easy and quick to unfold, and the mechanism for fixing the frame is convenient to use. I have previously purchased another model from another company and the frame was incredibly difficult to open and even more difficult to unlock and fold back. The EliteField Crate is much, much easier to use. The canvas walls are strong and look like they will stand up to prolonged use. The corners are reinforced with another layer of fabric. A zippered pocket is integrated into the top of the drawer. A good place to hide bags, leash etc. And it doesn't get in the way of the drawer when folded and stuffed into a tote bag. There is a second zippered canvas accessory pocket that attaches with snaps at the back if you need extra storage. The included dog bed is an added bonus and it's nice that the cage easily folds up with the bed inside. I also like that all four sides of the cage are mesh so my dog can see from every direction. (If your dog digs into the sides of the cage, I wouldn't recommend a padded cage like this. The mesh windows can easily be torn apart.) The two large mesh sides can be opened up and used as an entrance, however only one of these entrances has Velcro to keep the door open. The canvas top also zips up so you can put your dog in the cage top to bottom if you prefer. I am very happy with the EliteField box. I have attached a photo of my English Cocker sitting next to the box. He weighs 25 pounds and is 22 inches tall from floor to crown. I think a 24 inch cage would be the ideal size for most cockers, beagles, dachshunds and similar sized dogs. I have a second English Cocker Spaniel that is much closer in size to a Springer Spaniel. He's not traveling with me, but if he is he would definitely need a larger 30" box.
