Pleasantly surprised by the size of this pillow. I don't consider this a true travel pillow, other than that it conveniently folds in half for easy travel, but don't worry, it's a far cry from stupidly uncomfortable little travel pillows that you can't keep your head in. no matter how still you lie on it. We love this pillow for two reasons. My neck hurts (an old injury from a car accident) when using a pillow, but not using it is awkward and uncomfortable. I often try to use my ARM as a pillow and I wake up with a sore elbow when I do so if I don't move my arm for a while in my sleep. I really don't want to get arthritis in my elbow from sleeping on my arm, but I couldn't find a pillow that meets the criteria for it to be THIN (I don't and don't need 12# down in my pillow. I sleep, without hitting people with it, and I don't want to feel like I'm waking up from all that fluff, which ALWAYS gives me a sore neck in the morning). I also need a pillow to be COMFORTABLE. Every pillow I have slept on has resulted in some degree of neck strain/stiffness for several years after the accident. I was so happy to wake up with no neck pain after sleeping with this pillow. I was very pleasantly surprised having tried many pillows over the years. The second purpose we love it for is to use behind our back in combination with a back support pillow (we use a back support pillow for our head; well my family does as I said I can't sleep on bulky pillows and a memory foam pillow on the back). There is a photo to show what I'm talking about. We have a child who tends to walk and roll on the bed while sleeping and then tends to get back pain from sleeping in various contortions. When she sleeps with this pillow she keeps it in place and wakes up refreshed with NO back pain. Now she has adopted him and sleeps with him every night. I think I'll have to order another one if I also want to get a good, restful night's sleep and stop using my hand. I put a queen size pillowcase on top to keep it clean (see photos) and although it is SMALLER than a queen size pillowcase, I prefer a large pillowcase because I like the extra fabric behind the pillow hide when i sleep on it my baby and it helps keep the pillow clean. A double size case might fit a little better but I don't have one to try. When we first opened the pillow it smelled BAD. so bad I thought of returning it without even trying BUT I wanted to try the pillow and see if it would help me fall asleep without waking up with a sore neck or elbow from using my arm as a pillow have. I'm so glad I waited and got to use it because we LOVE it after the smell dissipated. I would buy it again (I think it's my only option since my daughter has taken over the pillow now :) and LOVE it. my baby too. My other kids also tried to take on him after sensing how INCREDIBLE he felt behind them BUT they didn't win that little fight as their sister was moving all over the bed in her sleep. GREAT pillow!
