Read negative reviews. They will not work in a small/shallow reactor, they require a deeper reactor like TMC #1500 or #1000 FSB. Some of the setups I've read about are terrible. For FSB to work properly, you need the right plumbing and water pumps. . I installed my TMC 1500 for 3 years and only stopped the flow once a year for less than 5 minutes to add NPX BIO heads. 5 inches of organic with an equivalent amount of sand removed will last about a year in a very densely planted and fish stocked 75 gallon pot with 1000 grams of granular peat in the pH lowering filters. Inlet and outlet flow regulators, with check valves correctly positioned, there is no problem with these settings. I use a RIO 1100 water pump in my aquarium. Rio has a sponge biofilter hidden under black volcanic rock that adds another layer of bioenvironment. I never dug Rio, as long as it works I don't care. If it burns out I'll buy a new one, $70 is a small price for maintenance free devices.
